International Exhibition of Children's Wartime Diaries (Kyiv / Amsterdam / The Hague)
A global advocacy project initiated by Khrystyna Khranovska and delivered by NGO Port of Culture, curated by Katya Taylor, in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Embassy of Ukraine in the Netherlands. The exhibition presents 14 personal stories of children and teenagers from occupied and frontline regions — including the 21-day siege of Mariupol as documented by 15-year-old Mykola Kostenko — captured in diaries, drawings, and interviews.
Key results:
- Geography and legacy: The project was presented in Ukraine and the Netherlands (opening at Amsterdam City Hall). Following the advocacy campaign, an agreement was reached to transfer the exhibition to the War Museum in The Hague.
- Symbolic partnership: Port of Culture secured collaboration with the Anne Frank House, where artist Alevtina Kakhidze led a unique workshop for Ukrainian children — drawing a direct historical parallel between World War II and Russia's current aggression.
- Global media reach: Earned media coverage secured in leading international outlets including Associated Press, VOA News, and ICTJ, drawing European public attention to crimes against Ukrainian children.
